Remove the drawers and slide hardware. For some units, that may be all. If it is "open" between the drawers you will need to install supports and wooden shelves. You can use shelving board or plywood. It will depend on the weight you plan on putting on the shelves.
Take off all hardware and doors paint it maybe add baskets

Remove drawers and replace with MDF and fix to draw side runners including adding one to the back of each. Then finish to taste.
