Well ....... I certainly never thought of this, Linda. But the backsplash in this video looks really great. However, there is a lot of woodworking involved and he doesn't show how to make cut-outs for plugs and switches. You may be able to figure this out.

I would make sure that you got really clean pallets. Many are treated with a lot of chemicals that I wouldn't want in my kitchen.
Be aware when you use wood for a backsplash, it needs to be sealed very well as wood is absorbent and will eventually turn a blackish color from the water behind your sink and washing it behind your stove.. It can also get moldy. I would use a waterproof backsplash.

You will need to clean, sand, and seal them. Clean them with a vinegar/water solution. When they are dry, sand them so they are smooth. Seal them with polyurethane to protect them from moisture in the kitchen.
