How do I upcycle this old wood quilt rack into something else?

1. Put a bottom onto the quilt rack, then paint a front and back in a contrasting color before attaching them. Now you can store long toys like hockey sticks, pool noodles or baseball bats.
2. If you decide to use it as an umbrella stand, then cut and fit a container or piece of metal to hold the run off rain water.
3. If you use it in the garage, it can hold the long handle things upside down, like a hoe or shovel.
4. If you cover the rod portion of the quilt rack with plastic (like shower rod protectors) then you can hang wet towels on the rack to use it like a drying rack.
5. As a shoe rack, place a piece of wood across the bottom, to set the shoes on. Then add coat hooks to hang dog leashes, gloves, tiny jackets or keys onto. You can add mesh bags to the hooks to hold things like balls or Frisbees.

If the bottom was filled in with a flat piece, the unit could be made into a gift and package wrapping centre. Rolls of wrapping paper could be stored upright. Screw in cup hooks on the sides for hanging up tape, scissors, zip loc bags of gift tags, etc. Stick a dowl through rolls of ribbon, then set the dowl end to end through the inside of the hearts. Just pull the length of ribbon you want, then cut.
