Hi Carol, some people use them as a bulletin board type piece. Just turn them upside down and use the slots to store letters, pictures, etc. Here's some ideas that may inspire you.

Hang jewelry on, hinge together for a folding screen. If narrow can use as a shelf on beackets.
build a box and use the shutter as a door. Make the box the same size and your spice jars and hang it in the kitchen or your pantry. Or just paint it a Christmas color and lean it against a wall and put your Christmas cards on the slats.
I use a set as a fireplace screen when not in use. I also like to use them on mantles as backgrounds for vignettes.
