If it is an old wash pot type pot, clean it up and either paint it or oil it down to keep away rust. Then use it to store rolled up throws that you use in your den.

Another good use is to put some felt on the bottom or ends of any legs and use it as an accent piece for storage in your kitchen...say for cookie bags or frequently used condiments. It could even be part of a display for a coffee bar.

  • I have one I plant with annuals. I get a spike and place that in the center. Then I plant a couple of ivy plants that hang out of the pot around the outside. Then, a few green and a few flower plants around the spike. Something like petunias never disappoint. Just make sure you pick the plants for shade or sunlight according to where your pot will be places. Usually costs me less than $20.00.

My sister uses an antique cast iron (cauldron sized) pot by her wood burning stove to house kindling/firestarters. Mom used to keep balls of yarn in it for whichever crocheting project she was working on. It had a permanent place by her chair where she would spend hours working on afghans and baby blankets.
