Then my EX-husband took it upon himself to move it with a LAWN trailer ! needles to say it was in pieces by the time it got up to me. attaching the dressing before and after.

If you can't figure out how to fix it, I would take it to a cabinet maker or furniture restorer. Check with some local antique stores or look in yellow pages, there are always old craftsman around who can fix/restore anything. What broke its hard to tell from your picture? did he forget to detach the mirror when he moved it?

I think a local repair person like a furniture restorer may be your best bet. OR and I know it may not be the direction you want to go, how about turning it into two lovely nightstands and attaching the mirror to a wall? It wouldn't be the same, but, still beautiful memories of your mom in a new form. I have a similar dressing table, and I've debated doing this as I downsize, since it is so large and heavy. Craftspeople can do amazing things with old furniture, so I hope you end up with what you want and need!

I can't find anyone who is willing to replace the mirrors. I was told the mirrors alone would cost around $ 500 to $800 because of the thickness and the cuts. However I may have found a similar mirror!

I would look on-line for better pictures of the 1940 dresser... before it was destroyed.... even go to a museum/ library to see if you could possibly find old photographs.... Then check in my opinion with a contractor who does customer or has custom work done... they will be the best possible source of information in the area where you are..... antique shops might also be a possible... this is a piece that should be kept for generation if possible, you can not find items that are made like this any more..... Good luck ,,, and I hope this will help out... Carol
