    There are special paints that you can use. I know that decoart has a line as well as a few other brands as well.

    Hi! Is it metal? If so, after cleaning it, prime any rusty or uneven areas, and then use a paint meant for metal. My favorites for both are made by Rustoleum. You'll get the best results if you take the door down, first.

    Sand and repaint. Its a common problem with dark colored doors often needing repainting every 3 years. Saw this video recently on TOH.

    repair

    sand

    clean (TSP is good)

    prime

    paint specific to the type of door you have


    It's best to remove the door and spray paint when possible
