Country Design Style-Jeanette: Can the pieces with stickiness be removed? I had a stove and the manual stated to remove pieces place in a large trash bag outside and add 1 cup of ammonia. Tie up the bag and let sit overnight. Then using gloves remove the pieces and wash well with soapy water. Toss the bag.

Country Design Style-Jeanette: I would pick distressed white if lighting up the area is the goal. Silver would be okay with the appliances. I think copper would be too dark...imo. Can you get a couple of samples to see how they will look?

How to pretty up the blank side of a refridgerator in a small kitchen?

The fridge side is in a walkway so nothing should protrude out from it (ex. shelves) because they would stick out into the space needed to walk through.

Country Design Style-Jeanette: If you have basic woodworking skills to make a wood box you can make a mantel. Think of the mantel as three long boxes. To for the legs and one a bit wider for the top. You can then add basic trims, let it plain or go over the top. Country Design Style-Jeanette: Wicker baskets and trays might do the trick. I had a kitchen without drawers and used a divided wicker utensil holder for silverware and a wicker pail to hold larger utensils.

Country Design Style-Jeanette: Laying your stencil on a stack of newspapers to wipe clean between moves helps. Newspaper soaks up paint plus you can open to the next page for a clean surface.

This house was built in 1964. What a horrible, ugly bricks they used. Would like to paint it, the wood behind it is real good wood paneling.

Country Design Style-Jeanette: @Delores W I added a drawing...please don't laugh! Okay, so ahead. I didn't have a picture of what I did over my verticals, it was several houses ago. So, I drew a simple picture to try and show what I did. I bought four wooden plaques at a craft store, two very small and two slightly larger. I glued the small plaque in the middle of the larger one. Then I hung the double plaques a few inches higher than the top of the blinds on each side. Then I hung a regular curtain rod on the plaques. I had curtains hung on rings at the time. This brought the curtains out about 2 extra inches from the wall with plenty of room to go over the blinds. I remember thinking I might need a extra plaque but everything worked just fine. I hope you find an answer that works for you. Let us know. ~Jeanette

Country Design Style-Jeanette: I look at the rooms in our home as pictures. I stand at the door and scan across the room like I would a picture in a magazine. Although it not usually as clean as those in magazines:)
