Need an easy way to make long drapes hang higher, without sewing.
Country Design Style-Jeanette:
First I would check for fabric the width you need. You can glue or use hemming tape on the top and bottom ends. Then use a rod with drapery clips for easy hanging. The glue or hemming tape will not usually do well in the washer or dryer though. If you like the look you could also add matching fabric to ready made drapes on the bottom.
REPURPOSING ARMOIRE...what is your favorite use?

If you want to sell it I would suggest making sure your armoire has plenty of useable shelving to fit many needs. Have lots of fun with your new projects.

Suggestions for window boxes. No fake plants.
Country Design Style-Jeanette:
A metal arch or trellis set in the back would be a great start. Then add whatever your interest or collections might be. Large seashells in the summer. Large metal flowers would be funky and fun. I recently saw a small window box in a shop in Phoenix with a display of stacked vintage dishes. Post up pictures when you get you window box filled. Would love to see when you come up with.

I want to make a water fountain! Inspiration and a plea for...help?

I did a couple of fountains years ago...before I ever gave a thought of taking a picture. One was a tall urn with a fountain bubbler in the center. But what I liked about it most was the cover I made to fit over the outlet at the front door. My favorite was an old tray buried to the rusty lip, filled with rocks and a bubbler in the center. Looked like water bubbling up from the ground. Our dog loved to drink from it.

Do you keep your dish drainer out at all times? If not, what works for you?

My dish drainer sits down in the sink while washing any hand wash only dishes. After washing I dry everything and put the dish drainer on hooks on the inside of the door under the sink. We only have two people in our house, so less dishes.

Has anyone used the Roomba?
Country Design Style-Jeanette:
Our house has hardwood floors, two adults, and one German Shepherd. The Roomba did okay with vacuuming the floor but would leave a pile of debris along the area rugs. I also didn't feel the suction was strong enough for rugs. A side issue I had was when to use it. I didn't like to be around when it was on...and I work from home. Our German Shepherd would bat at it some and the Roomba picked up his treat as it fell out of his ball before he could get the treat. I think cats love it, but could be just an expensive cat toy.

You know those "vintage" plastic framed oval mirrors? The frames are made to look very ornate. A small one hung in the center painted with an accent color might work. It would also give depth to your piece. You can usually find them for under $20 in the size you need. Let us know what you decide and send a picture.

Paint color for small galley kitchen oak cabinets/flooring.

Joy, forgive me...I reread your post and realized you're not redoing your cabinets. Somehow I had it in my head you where going to age or antique the cabinets. {my old age is getting the best of me} Since you are leaving the cabinets oak, be very careful with yellow. You could remove a small cabinet door and take it to the paint store for their assistance.

Is there a rule of thumb for placing a large area rug?

Ginny, the key thing to note is that your not sure you like it there. Design rules are a group of guidelines meant to be broken. You do love the rug so I would play with the furniture arrangement as Leslie stated.
