Downstairs bath remodel

We renovated our downstairs bathroom. We removed (ugly) wallpaper from walls and added paint; painted ceiling; added high molding and up-lighting; replaced all fixtures; replaced toilet.
Advice:
We purchased the toilet at a wholesale warehouse to get the best price. Replacing the toilet/other fixtures is actually pretty easy if you follow the steps from your average DIY book/website--just remember to turn off the water! You may need caulk to seal edges. Painting the ceiling in a complementary color in a small room draws the eye upward and makes the room seem larger. You may want safety goggles for this. Also, adding high molding has the same effect.
This project was not too difficult. We did it in a few days and worked in a few stages. Stripping the old wallpaper was the most difficult part. We had to be careful not to gouge the drywall since the paper had been up for some years. We used a sprayer and a steamer as well a solvent to help with this. We painted the walls and ceiling, adding molding to draw the eye up. We added up-lighting above the molding to highlight the ceiling and to make the room look taller/larger. We replaced the toilet with a new low-flow model with a dual-flush system and added updated fixtures.
Materials:
solvent, chisel/scraper, spray bottle & water, steamer (to remove wallpaper), paint, dropcloth, - $0.00
