Dragonflies do not bite people. They might fly around your head and land on you but they won't hurt you. Their main job is to eat mosquitoes and they eat LOTS of them! You want them in your yard!

They will but only if they feel threatened. But most of the species of dragonfly are not capable of causing an injury or breaking the surface of the skin. Very rare and large species may create injury by biting and sometimes may cause some pain. But none of these species are considered poisonous. Even the biting tendency is actually created when we try to provoke them or harm them.
I've never known them to bite and they are beneficial insects!
