Attaching glass to mak an end table

Question

I am making an old crock into an end table and I need to secure the glass so that it doesn't move on top of the crock. The glass is fairly heavy, but I am still not confident that it won't move around. Any suggestions?

I always use those little rubber stoppers, you can get a sheet of about 12 of them for a couple of dollars. That's what they use at my antique mall, and the used furniture store I shop at, that's where I got the idea. The glass kind of adheres to it, and won't move until you physically lift it up. Cheap solution, and they work great.

Sherri I would use something clear like adhesive dots or the clear rubber bumpers for the backs of photos. If you put the glass on top of the crock, you could place the bumpers on the glass, just following inside the edge of the crock. Then invert the glass and put it on the crock. This way you have secured the glass from sliding off. Anything that isn't clear will be visible. You can also coil up a vintage quilt and then add the glass top. It would provide some interest instead of just having an empty crock.

Hi Sherri, The rubber bumpers are what I used on the end tables I made out of white ceramic planters. The glass I used was frosted ( You can also get it pebbled on one side) so that you couldn't see inside. If you do want clear glass then put something of interest inside as Barbara suggested :) Good luck.

Get Titbond clear Power Grab or a clear silicone caulk, and put a bead on the crock rim.

Hi, You can buy clear soft rubber type half round stickers to stick on glass and prevent it moving.
