How To Organize A Pantry

Our pantry was a hot mess for a long time before we organized it. We couldn't find anything on the crowded shelves, so we kept buying more groceries. I like to organize, but only if I have the time to do it right. I kept putting off organizing our pantry because I knew that it was going to take some time.
Finally, I got motivated and took everything off of the shelves. I threw away the food that was outdated or stale, and I moved the cleaning supplies and rags that I had in the pantry to our new laundry room cabinets.
After cleaning everything out of the pantry, I painted the walls green and the shelves white. I also added 3 coats of polycrylic to protect the shelves.
Next I bought some storage shelves for cans, and some clear canisters for pasta, rice and cereals. I grouped items together - all of the pastas together with the spaghetti sauces, all of the cereals together with the almond milk, etc. I love these clear canisters because now I know when I'm getting low on something and need to buy more.
I also bought some white plastic baskets to hold protein bars, oatmeal packets, chip bags and one to hold some miscellaneous items.
I've tried to organize this pantry closet before, but it never stuck. Now the pantry is staying organized because there is a place for everything.
