Help. Some of my butterfly bushes are slow to bud out. What causes this?

    Bonnie, in my experience buddleia are often quite tardy in leafing out. If you prune them back just before they break dormancy, as you should, and see green just under the bark, there is nothing to worry about.

    Thank you Douglas, I moved in , in the Fall and did't realize they needed to be cut back. I will make sure I do this in the Fall this year.

    I'm not sure where you are, Bonnie, but you generally do not want to cut them back in the fall. Wait until spring, just before they start leafing out again.
