Kimberly Barney on Jun 12, 2013You will probably lose some of them when you cut but I would cut. As they grow tall, though, they will require support if not supported by each other.Helpful Reply

Sandi Johnson on Jun 12, 2013Pull what you can apart, then cut the roots that wouldn't separate. Will not hurt them if you are gentle about it -)Helpful Reply

Better Outdoor Living at Home on Jun 12, 2013You should be able to cut them. I divide my perennials with a shovel when they get too large. This link tells you how to divide perennials. http://urbanext.illinois.edu/perennials/dividing.cfm/Helpful Reply

Catherine Smith on Jun 13, 2013I'm with Better Outdoor Living, I use a sharp, clean butcher knife or cleaver to divide some of my plants. Just water well when you transplant, they'll come out shock much easier.Helpful Reply
