Vintage Storehouse & Co. on Jun 17, 2013Hi Debra, this might not be what your looking for, but have you ever checked out http://www.graphicsfairy-diy.com/. It's a free site that allows you to download french typography to use as a stencil on whatever you want. She also shows you some techniques on how to apply graphics to furniture, fabric and other various things w/o buying a stencil. Just an FYI, stencils are pretty expensive... at least the ones I've personally found... so if you plan to sell your pieces (hopefully for a profit), using a stencil eats up a lot of that profit... also you don't want to end up using the same stencil on every single piece of furniture. Using a site like the graphics fairy and investing in a tracer projector like http://www.walmart.com/ip/12347716?wmlspartner=wlpa&adid=22222222227000000000&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=&wl3=21486607510&wl4=&wl5=pla&veh=sem or investing in a higher quality projector gives you more flexibility with your furniture! Hope this helps... Good luck!Helpful Reply

Debra on Jun 17, 2013Thank you for your reply. I do visit the Graph Fairy and I have also transferred some of her images to furniture, which turned out pretty well. I have made some home made stencils which also worked pretty good. You are right that the stencils are expensive. I would really love to stencil a wall in my home but those stencils are really expensive, some day I will do that. I can make a stencil big enough to have it be time effective. I think on one of the tables I am going to paint strips but leave a small stencil in place so that it shows the wood through if you understand what I mean. Well I am going to try any way. I am new to repurposing furniture and have been self teaching through trail and error (but I am getting a lot better). Thanks you for your help. Have a great day.Helpful Reply

Dani Mcelroy on Jun 17, 2013I like the idea of using doilies from the dollar store. just tape doilies to surface & spray paint. Look like lace on your table :)Helpful Reply

WallsTreat Studio/ Kass Wilson on Jun 18, 2013Check out Cutting Edge Stencils.com. They have a line of stencils that are smaller scale for arts and crafts projects. Be sure to look at all of their designs for inspiration. A stencil can be used for ANY surface so just because it says that it is a wall stencil doesn't mean that it cannot be used for furniture, fabric, floors, etc. There are endless applications.Helpful Reply

Margaret Dillard on Jun 18, 2013I think tone on tone is simple too. Pick a color just a little lighter or darker then the tables for a subtle look. Good luckHelpful Reply
