Sue Klinedinst on Jun 14, 2016Go up. A tall bookcase can hold a lot. Make sure to anchor it to the wall so it doesn't tip over on someone.Helpful Reply

Elizabeth on Jun 15, 2016Go vertical . If your bed is on a wall with no windows, build a wall unit to surrounding the bed. Sides and top. If you are in your home, not an apartment you can make built ins between the wall studs.Helpful Reply

Sonia Burrows on Jun 15, 2016I agree, go vertical. Check out this website for a visual on storage around the bed. You can even go across the top of the bed. http://thesawdustdiaries.com/built-wardrobes-platform-storage-bed/. Also Google Ikea hack platform bed. Some great ideas on storage below the bed.Helpful Reply

Louise Adkins on Jun 15, 2016Your best storage area is under the bed. Visit https://www.pinterest.com/search/pins/?q=under%20bed%20storage&rs=typed&0=under%7Ctyped&1=bed%7Ctyped&2=storage%7Ctyped Then your closet space needs to be utilized depending on size/shape of closet. You can extend storage by adding a shelf above the existing shelf above the rod, usually the ceiling height allows for this and usually there is room on either end for extra shelving. It is difficult to help without a photo or two. Good Luck.Helpful Reply

Peter Kovak on Jun 15, 2016I've seen something really cool in some friends' house, bought from Ikea, furniture especially designed for small spaces. The bed is up, about 80 cm (roughly 32 inch) from the ceiling, and this gives you a lot of space at floor level. My friends have put beneath the bed the computer table, together with shelves and drawers, and what was left of the room had plenty of space for a quite big closet. I really hope my answer helps (even a little bit!).Helpful Reply

Darlene Ernst on Jun 15, 2016I switched to a twin platform bed. The extra space underneath was worth losing 1/2 of a bed that I never used.Helpful Reply

KatAych on Jun 17, 2016First off, go through your stuff and purge! Make sure you're only keeping things you actually need/really like/wear/use. Under bed storage is great for things you don't use very often. You can also redo your closet to hold more stuff and organize things more easily. We use a few floating shelves here and there to display items so they don't take up precious space on the desktop or entertainment center. Can you post a picture of your room so we can offer specific suggestions?Helpful Reply
