How can we keep safe from bed bugs

If you actually have bed bugs, it is very hard to get rid of them. The hard advice I have is to hire a professional. It will be expensive. They will need to come more than once, possible more than twice. Then become diligent in resisting them.
Heat, heat, heat , very high heat is the one thing that kills them. so you really do need to get professional help . because even if you think you have taken them down. they can bounce back . I am so sorry those little monsters found you , they are so easy to get and so hard to get rid of.
Diatomaceous Earth. Food grade only! Get at a health food store. Do not get any kind that does not say Food Grade on the label, as it has poison in it (used for pool filters) and can harm both humans and pets. Sprinkle on your bed mattress or wherever you think you have them. Don't forget the couches or anywhere you sit as well as pillows. It will kill them on contact. Leave sit for all day or overnight and vacuum up. D.E. dehydrates any insect that comes in contact with it. Repeat if needed but usually the first round should do the trick. It has a fine powder like flour but lighter in weight. Spread it out carefully with your hands so you do not inhale the powder as it will dehydrate your lungs and eyes as well, so spread it out low and careful so you don't create a cloud of it in the air. It's very safe and healthy otherwise.
Thank u so much.from where can i get it?
Ask Home Depot Or Lowes what to spray for bed bugs and then put the mattresses in a mattress cover to suffocate the bugs. Also Spray everything else and clean very good! If that fails buy new mattresses.
Sprays, other things DO NOT WORK permanently . The only thing that will get rid of bed bugs is HEAT and plenty of it. My son owns a bed bug elimination company is CA. He does extremely excellent work. His company was featured on The Docs television program when they did a segment on natural remedies for good heath. No chemicals, nothing to leave behind. His company is called Top Dog. Feel free to look it up online.
We live in MD. Will they work here?
Call them to find out. Not sure about that. I know they're based out here but maybe they can help direct you to sources out there, if it's at all possible. I just know that this country is experiencing almost an epidemic of these little varmints and they are IMPOSSIBLE to get rid of permanently unless you use extremely high temperatures to do so. Laying things around for them to munch on is not an effective long term way to rid yourself of them. Good luck, Again they are called Top Dog and there is a video clip of when they were on the show.
You can also go to a pest control company and buy diazenon (not quite sure of the spelling) and mix it 1/2 cup to a gallon of water. This is VERY strong so be careful and have some place to go when you are through. vacuum the piping of your mattresses, wash all sheets, bedding, floor rugs, etc. anything you see that might have some of the little varmints hiding out. Spray all corners, closets, garages, around the house and then lock up and leave for about 4-6 hours. Better yet, go somewhere for the weekend. You might be able to use smoke bombs as well if you don't want to go to this extreme but do the whole house at the same time so they won't leave one room and go to the other. When you get back, they should be gone. If the infestation is heavy, you may need to do it again. Do it until you finally get rid of the little buggers.
Jusdt remember if you vacuum, empty and discard the bag/container or disinfect them as well. AND you almost always need to repeat. Eggs can be left behind and hatch later.
Your best bet is to research what you need to do for bbs and go from there.. even if people had them, solution might not be a one size fits all.. If they're in your bed consider them to be in your lr furniture as well..also how bad of an infestation do you have?
Read up on it. If you may think other solutions can do the trick, then go ahead. What I'm saying is that the only PERMANENT solution to end this problem is high heat and lots of it. Like cockroaches, this species can live on long after we're gone especially given some powder that may get a few of them, not their eggs. They will make a banquet of those powders after a while. Do whatever works for you. Semi-permanent is good also and might be all that some folks are looking for. Good luck.
Had them from roommate and that was in 2015 and have not seen them since.. had exterminator here twice since..nothing.. considering D-powder was mentioned (look what it's used for before you spew how long that stuff will be around) and a spray from home depot.. I also trust since 1922.. yours probably saves on sanity though.. good advertising argument though!!
