Shirley on Dec 14, 2013I saw A back splash that this one guy did and he used A round stencil sponge brush different colors of paint, then he stamped the wall and put the circles real close together and it really looked good. Kind of looked it was that small tile from 30s or 40s.Helpful Reply

Kimberly A on Dec 14, 2013A small mosaic tile with color would look great. It would become like a piece of beautiful jewelry for your wall. You can pick up sections of that pretty cheap especially when stores are changing stock and they discount their leftovers.Helpful Reply

JD Kitchens, Baths & More on Dec 15, 2013You are always safe with a travertine, One thing you need to watch for is if you are doing bead board cabinets, some beading patterns have a lot more lines in them, and if you select a tile that is busy i.e. a brick pattern of some type you may not like the busy ness once it is all together. There are some honed travertines available in the marketplace and offer the color you are looking for but the texture is smoother and together with your cabinets would be beautiful. Also you did not say what your counter top is? this to will play apart in the selection and color . If you have chosen a granite this will most likely be busy on its own unless its a solid color. You don't want the patterns to compete.Helpful Reply

Lisa House on Jul 05, 2015Marle subway tile is much less costly than people assume, is very affordable actually. Had I used it instead of the $13/foot tile I used, I would have saved over 50%Helpful Reply

Diana Deiley on Apr 01, 2016I just applied a textured backsplash in a kitchen using sand, mixed with semi-gloss paint. Rolled it on with a 4" nap roller, several times until I got the look I wanted in less than an hour and for less than $20 for the entire project. Easy peasy. OR you cold apply joint compound randomly for a different texture. Have fun.Helpful Reply

CeCe Graphenteen on Apr 05, 2016My go-to backsplash on the cheap is to get a roll of paintable wallpaper - especially the ones that look like pressed tin. I have even painted just the raised parts and the backsplash looked like expensive tile.Helpful Reply
