What is your location? Annuals,perennials,trees,shrubs?
I like easy ones like Autumn sediums, mums iris, rhododendrons, hibiscus and crocus, geraniums, tiger lilies and pink ladies are great but they need their own space they tend to spread. Peonies are beautiful and most all of these can be moved with cuttings. Lilac bushes are pretty but have a short blooming period. Gardenia and Jasmine make great shrubs. Crepe Myrtles are the trees I would pick. The ground sediums just spread the autumn sediums grow into a nice 2 foot tall little cluster, like mums. I alternate these. For flowers all season try petunias. The wave type make nice baskets, the others make nice ground covers between the flowers these don't come back. Yucca's make a nice edging and stays green all year, unless you live in the arctic . These can been seen along the highway in North dakota and Montana. There are a ton Annuals, these are just the ones I like because they are so easy. Hanging baskets have a lot of options but these all depend on your area. That's why I like the petunias they grow everywhere. Wandering Jews and airplane plants are also great.
Google your plant hardiness zone then Google Plants for zone (whatever it is). For example: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/garden-how-to/gardening-by-zone/zone-6/plants-for-zone-6.htm
