The table would look great if you did some liming to make it more along the lines of whitewash, and white chalk painted legs!
You have a gorgeous dining set! With the colors you already have, I might go with and ivory or linen with gold trim and a dark rubbed in color...like brandy, rust, or even black. The dresser is definitely do-able...I would replace the knobs with hardware in a style similar to the table. I would also get some embossed wallpaper with a design similar to the scrolling designs on the dining set, and use some of the designs on the drawers...they can be glued on after prepping and before painting. Home depot sells the wallpaper samples for a few dollars each, and after painting they look a lot like millwork for a lot less money. I hope this helps...have fun!
I would say chalk paint would look great, and you can find a color that goes well with the room's decor
I have the same dilema - I want to paint our brown living room table. I'm thinking of chalk paint in white to get the farmhouse look, and then distress the edges.

Would you do all white or stained top and white bottom,...or would you do an off white? Partial to any brand of chalk paint.... ?!
No...doesn't sound silly at all. I have two boys who are like walking disaster areas (adorable ones, though). Most of our furniture ends up with faux marble tops, using either self-adhesive floor tile (cheap online at target) or contact paper. I actually get lots of compliments, and I figure I can refinish the right way later when the danger has passed;). Creamy yellow with navy trim sounds awesome!!
Have fun!
My two lil loves should be past that now, ha ha but regardless as a mom, I totally get.it. our table has become the place for school projects, arts and crafts, diy etc, fortunately my new house will have a designated room for that, so I guess you could say, I'm past the danger stage LOL! Because it's time for this table to be used as its intended, but then again this is how precious memories are made rt?? Ty for your imput....
I have a wooden French Provincial dining set that I have begun to paint white. Started with the china cabinet - looks fab white. For the table I am going to paint the legs and underside/edge white, but I am going to sand the top down and just varathane the top. I like the ease of cleaning it and the no stain finish.
I was thinking white, but quickly realized it would pick up stains from cups/foods too easily. I have a white coffee table and it does this.
Table as it was in progress, now all coats have been on as well as a poly :) now to glaze or dark brown wax 🙄🙄🙄
Latex,....
Here is the captains chairs in process of getting painted bc I wabt a thick enough coat but want to lv some areas darkneed as it was originally. ... the other 4 chair got a coat of gel stain

Why would you want to do anything at all? Let it alone.
I love white with a dark glaze, ASCP in Cocoa or French linen... and cover the chairs in a funky fabric! You could also Leave the top dark and just do the legs, apron and chairs! Cute pieces!
