Painting it is fine but you should be aware that you must use masonry paint. And you should be prepared to repaint as needed.
It is a matter of personal choice, but I really like the look of brick homes.

If you want to do it go ahead. Life is too short to look at a house who's color you don't like. I would suggest you consult painting contractors for advice.
No, please don't. I love the natural look, whether it's brick or wood, or human skin. (Tattoos, oh my!) Things that were designed to be painted, like drywall or plywood, of course need paint to finish them. I just recall as a child, old craftsmen lamenting beautiful pieces painted because they were worn and saying if it was good quality and good workmanship once, honor it by restoring it now. There's nothing wrong with your brick exterior, so why not call in a landscaper to freshen and brighten your home's exterior?
