You have got to love nature, huh? Well, I found a site that describes in detail four approaches to getting the cats to scat: using barriers, using scent, scaring them or making a truce. All natural! My favorite, by the way is a motion activated sprinkler! http://www.wikihow.com/Keep-Cats-Out-of-a-Garden ; Have fun!

Sprinkle cayenne pepper or chili powder around the garden. One sniff and they'll scatter. may need to reapply. Won't hurt the cats or plants.

We squirt vinegar around the flowers and all the edges of the patio. The neighborhood cats seemed to come to our patio to urinate. The vinegar lasts for several days or until it rains. Then we just respray. We label the sprayer since we use all sorts of sprays.
