Or you could leave the green ground moss and turn it into a fairy garden....decorative mushrooms, fairies, gnomes etc.
It seems that your yard is too wet, at least in the areas where the moss grows. It could be that it is lower in those areas so the water settles there. Try filling in those areas and making the yard level so the water runs off. Or if he low areas are more or less in a line, create a bog garden or line it with rocks to create a dry creek so the water can follow that line and not settle.
