Here's the advice I got for you: First I cut them all down to almost ground level. Then I dug down about a foot more and with a saws-all I cut the the roots about 6-8 inches more. Then I soaked each plant root with a half gallon of gasoline, added slowly so to not splash and to be sure it was soaking directley on the root and the immediate area only. Then I poured one cup of rock salt on each root. I left them exposed for one day and then cover with dirt. I will not plant anything in the area till the spring. They are DEAD and GONE - except the shoots that are coming up in my yard as much as 15 feet away, which my mower eliminates weekly.
