absolutely, if it makes more sense for the flow or your family...go for it!
I don't want a formal dining since I have a large kitchen and table to seat 8 in there, so I use my formal as another family room, took the chandelier and put it in kitchen over table and the fan in the family room, flows nice!

"why not" I have many friends who have done this as they have a lot of company and have a great room and the living room was never used. Works great. Go for it.
I switched my rooms and love it. I made a cozy sitting room and have a dining room for my growing family.
I did . My Living room was long and narrow with 2 walls of windows. My dining was more square with no windows just a double door for light. Swithching them gave me room for a table for twelve and living space more conducive to visiting and watching tv. As long as you like it that is all that matters.
Absolutely! Where you live is all about what works for you and your family. If it doesn't work , change it! So yes, go for the change!
There is no reason why you cannot switch up the spaces and their uses.
