I have some old handmade lace. Any suggestion of how to display it?

Depending on the size of lace you have, the best thing is to make sure the lace is clean and dried flat then using a pure cotton thread baste stitch it to a contrasting piece of fabric. Then evenly mount that to a backing of acid free mounting board, set it in a frame and then hang it on a wall that does NOT get sunlight on it.
I agree with Morgan.
Are they linear or round?
How about appliqueing (sp?) them unto a throw pillow or bed pillow?
If they are round and aren't very valuable or fragile you can also appliqué them onto a lap blanket, skirt, or tablecloth. Baste large round or square ones together to make table runners, doilies, or kitchen valances. You can make skirts for dolls out of round pieces as well.
Always hand wash them in cold water with Woolite and roll in a towel to dry. Carefully iron flat and store in between sheets of acid free tissue paper.
Good luck 😉 and post your results!
I have both it is the linear hand made that are giving me a problem.
You could frame it.
Shadow box them. I have a lidded one with glass. I use mine for travel momentos.
I have some lace & doilies that I plan on doing this with.
I saw a post that sewed them together to create a table runner. Due to the fact that in order to clean and stretch them back into shape, I would advise not actually sewing them together or making a a permanent connection, but some Scotch tape on the underside of the connection would probably make it work and then they could be washed and stretched. If you use a sugar starch, 1/2 cup Sugar to 1/2 cup Water or double if you need more solution than that, you will have very stiff lace that you can actually dust so this lasts for a long time. Shadow boxing is a pretty way to display some, use a paper or piece of mat board in a color that works with your decor (Be sure that it is acid and lignin free in order to not damage the lace). If you have a crochet hook that isn't in use, you could also include that in the display. If you have a picture of the person who crocheted the doily include that as well. What a treasure that will be to pass down through the generations. Remember that it is important to include the name, birthdate and as much information as possible with the collage, because that is what will make it valuable for many years and generations to come. In addition, DO NOT DISPLAY in direct sunlight. If you don't want to put a lot of information on the front of your display, put in on the back so that is remains with the doily. Also, Take a picture of the completed project and include it in your photo album with any pictures that you have of the creator of the lace and include all the information that you can.
