Interesting question! I will also be interested to see what people have to say. I have 6 + dogs in my yard from a not so little chihuahua mix to a Ridgeback, so you know I pick up several times a day too. Luckily I was successful in teaching them to use a certain part of the yard.
As far as the after odor, since you have gravel, try a spray bottle with a 50 / 50 solution of water and vinegar. After you pick up, give the area a quick spritz. I live in a hot climate and the urine smell from the bigger dogs (more so with the males than the females), can knock you over so I run the sprinklers for 2 minutes (at least) for a wash down every night, and sometimes a quick rinse with the hose during the day when the dog days of summer seem never ending.

Sorry! Link is supposed to go to DIY doggy poo composting
There's a poop disposal system from Greater Good that I've bought - you put the poop into an in-ground container(with a cover) with a decomposer powder in it. Works well.
nothing that is good, it can contain various germs and things that could cause problems for whatever and whoever comes in contact with it, just dispose of it and do not try to repurpose it.
