How can I keep rascally rabbits from eating my hostas and sedum?
It isn't feasible to fence them.
You can try spraying them down with a citrus essential oil spray
I've had success by sprinkling soap shavings around, once they get a mouthful, they'll hit the road!
Have the same problem with plants. I use Rabbit Scram. Sprinkle around the ground round plants or the entire border of garden. Will withstand some rain/watering but heavy rains or deep watering you will need to repeat.
Could try moth balls, also.
Your local feed store should have several products to keep rabbits at bay. The trick is to be vigilent. If it rains or washed away, the rabbits will be back. Next year, try chicken wire. 3 feet high and buried 2 inches into the ground.
Might sprinkle ceyenne pepper around and on the plant.
I’m building chicken wire-faced “boxes” out of PVC plumbing pipe to keep out the squirrels, rabbits and a stray cat.
Just using wire to attach it and am leaving one side as a hatch door.
I am looking forward to adding clear plastic when the frost comes.
PVC will break down in the sunlight, so paint it when you’re finished building the frame.
You could put up a fence of chicken wire to keep them out.
Some gardeners are able to grow sunflowers by sprinkling blood meal, human hair, cow manure, fox urine or other repellants in the garden, or by planting a border of other rabbit-resistant plants around them.
