Hi Linda, Your home photo caught my eye because it reminded me of my childhood home. It is hard to tell in the photo, is that a screened in porch on the left? It's dark so it is hard to tell. It looks like you have a really big front yard. How would you feel about making it into a large flower bed? That's less to mow and more food for the birds, bees and butterflies! There are several gardening sites that will give you tons of ideas. Here is one https://www.thespruce.com/front-yard-flower-beds-1315941. The darkness of the screened in porch? could use some outdoor artwork - it's the perfect backdrop for a http://amzn.to/2tizi8R big dragonfly or some kind of big artwork. Can you see that lake from your window? It's gorgeous! I had one more thought. I dove by a house that used an old rowboat as a flower planter. Hope this gives you some ideas!
Paint the brick a neutral gray/ tan color with dark shutters such as black.keep trim color white on house and screened in porch.Maybe thin out hedgein front.
Thank you for your suggestions. The house actually has aluminum siding painted dark brown, the brick was just a photo from another suggestion. So you suggest tan with black shutters? I do love that combination as for the hedges, they are quite a problem...perhaps time for some new landscaping?
would still love a few more suggestions.....
I would maybe add light colored shutters. As far as the bushes, pull them out and plant something that will give you more color and is easier to control. Even pots positioned across the front would look really nice!!
