What could I use to get bird dropping stains off my cement patio?

Bird poop, or bird droppings, is a type of organic stain. When birds poop on your concrete surface, they leave behind a stain that contains their feces as well as their food. Berries, nuts and seeds contribute toward the stain as it soaks into the porous concrete surface. By removing the stain from the surface and drawing it out of the concrete, you can successfully clean your concrete and return it to its unstained condition. Where there are birds, there is bound to be bird poop on your concrete.

Rinse bird droppings off the concrete with the garden hose.

Hose off the concrete to remove bird droppings from the surface.

Step 2

Squirt liquid dish-washing detergent on the site of the bird poop stain to cover it. Use a natural-bristled scrub brush to work the detergent into the concrete and loosen and remove remaining stain. Sawdust absorbs moisture from concrete surfaces.

Step 3

Cover the soapy stain with sawdust and allow it to absorb the soap and water. This is a more environmentally friendly way to remove the soap, instead of rinsing it into the grass. Allow the sawdust to absorb the soap and water for 20 minutes, and then sweep up with a broom and dust pan.

Step 4

Treat remaining stains and discoloration left by food in the bird droppings, such as berries, with a mixture made of 1 tbsp. 12-percent hydrogen peroxide and three drops of ammonia.

Step 5

Pour the peroxide and ammonia solution over the remaining stain. Scrub the concrete with the scrub brush and allow the solution to sit for a few minutes. Absorb the ammonia and peroxide with sawdust. Sweep up the sawdust after it dries completely.

You could use ammonia diluted with water; bleach and water or my go to for everything; dawn dish soap and white vinegar. Use a push broom for a brush and rinse with a hose. or power wash it.

I use white vinegar and a powerful setting on my garden hose. Washes right away.

We have free range chickens that poop on our sidewalk and best way to clean that mess up is with a power washer.

Once you have cleaned it - Paint and seal it!

Another vote for power washing. If you have a bird feeder nearby or toss crumbs out for the birds, you might want to relocate the feeder and toss in another area.

Hello, hope this helps you out. For stubborn dropping such as pigeon, spray the cleaner spray nine straight on the droppings wait a few minutes then use a brush to scrub it clean, rinse well and be careful not to get it on plants.

Get a nozzle for your garden hose that provides high pressure wash. Soak the area, squirt some Dawn dish washing liquid onto it and pressure wash away!

Spread a thin layer of liquid dish washing detergent over the stain. Rub the detergent onto the poop stain with a natural fibered scrub brush. This will loosen the stain and help lift it from the concrete surface.
