As a little girl my Grandmother would have me start cuttings for roses. You put one rose stem in a glass jar with water and put a plastic bag over the top with a rubber band to hold it. Put the jars in filtered sun until they root. Keep the water level the same. Grandma would take the plant and put it in the garden and put the jar over the top for a while.
Now Ii'm too busy for that! I take cutting from most everything. I get a plastic container drill holes in the bottom, fill it a quarter way with peat moss and get some rooting hormone. I dip the fresh cut end in water and dip in the rooting medium and put them in the peat moss. Close the lid and put them in a filtered shady area, keep it moist. When they start making new leaves, move the container to a partially sunny area to harden them for about a week. Take them out and plant or repot. Is really easy.
Yes! In a pot or in ground. Here is a link for you! Good luck and have fun! 🌹

Barbara Gallyot, I've seen a video of what you are trying to do with the potatoes. You put the potatoes in a pot with dirt just barely covering them and the stem stuck inside and keep it moist. I don't remember adding the cinnamon.
