Are you trimming them every year? You're probably trimming off the branches with the buds. Read this article and see if it helps:

Good luck!
Check your fertilizer. There are three numbers on fertilizer bags or containers. If you use a fertilizer with a high first number, you'll get healthy plants that grow well. But they will tend to NOT have flowers. If you want flowers to bloom, use a fertilizer with a high middle number. It will make an amazing difference! You may be pruning too early in the season and cutting off the buds.
They need full to part sun , lots of water and an acid fertilizer .
Hydrangeas bloom on old wood. I was doing this every year on one I'd put out about 7 years ago. Moved and split it 3 years ago and read in a gardening magazine that you are not supposed to trim them (and if you have to...ONLY after they've bloomed). This summer I finally got a beautiful big pink bloom on one of them. The landscaping crew that works at the building where I work made the mistake of trimming the endless hydrangeas back late spring and the blooms were almost non-existent this year.
