I like the glass topped tables since they are easy to clean. How about using pretty chargers or placemats? How about using a tablecloth?
Or, make a wood top to go over the existing table.
If it is rectangular, why not remove the glass and using the frame as your base, replace with fence boards, cedar slats, or pallet wood
Hello Marian; I suggest that you visit several inexpensive stores, and purchase some new "Beachy" items.
Fabric stores will have all types of Fabric that can be used for this.
(Wal-Mart has beachy Fabrics) The Dollar Tree has all kinds if nice looking things that would give you the look that you are after and would hardly cost anything.
Perhaps, you would be happy with just some updates, and you could keep the existing glass? I mention this, as glass floats are used to this day for fishing. The glass would look so nice with just some small updates!!!
If you want any other ideas, Please let me know and I will be happy to help you!!
Take Care!
I would take the glass out and replace with wood boards. You can even do a white stain to make it look more beachy.
Place mats, a plastic beach table cloth while you eat, and then a plant centerpiece, a ceramic fish or other beachy things. I just bought some colorful cushions and pillows for my porch swing and it looks so cheerful.

If the glass is inset into the table and not flush, you could add rope around the edge of the lip with dots of hot glue as a border.
I got some great ideas! I think I'll get some of the bright colored accents for the chairs and make a new top from pallets. First, I plan to take it all apart and paint the frame. I can't wait to get started!
