I am unclear as to what to do with this part of my house, "The Breakfast Nook".
I dunno I have the small Bose speakers and woofer for a home theater, and I lifted the shoe molding along the baseboards and put the wires under it. I didn't want speakers hanging on my walls so they just sit on either a piece of furniture in the corner or a window sill..... and the sound is great.
PS When I lifted the moulding, I left the nails in, taped with clear tape where needed to get it behind where the nails were and carefully lined up old nail and hole and use a rubber mallet to push it back in. I did buy a roll of speaker wire so I had lots to get to all the corners.
What you need are cord covers! I have a tv in my kitchen and I have the cord cover in the corner and running across the top of the baseboard. They come in paintable and stainable material too. Running them in all 4 corners and will look intentional and part of the architecture and not an eyesore. Just Google "paintable cord covers" or "cord covers" for more vendors. The 2 links are just for you to get some ideas. Might be something to consider or a jumping off point for DIY! Good luck.

Make sure any wiring under the carpet won't get walked on. Wires can get frayed. Fire hazard?
speaker wire wouldn't be a fire hazard, but the transmission of 'sound' would be lost. We ran ours behind the crown molding, baseboard/shoe molding
I use cord covers. They can be painted any color and look neat and tidy.
Cover with decorative molding found at any lumber store.
It is unwise to place the cables under the carpet as they can easily get broken or frayed , causing hazards even at the low voltage/currents here. Cover moldings are great or if you are handy, run the wires inside the wall - only slight wall repairs would be needed
Sarah has the best idea get some decorative molding and put wires behind this in all corners will add a decorative touch to your home.
Thank you everyone, y'all are terrific!!
I also got a. Decorative box from Michael's, cut a hole in the back and put the power strip in that.
I wouldn't put under csrpet could be very dangerous, use mplding or wire covers
You can find cord covers at most big box home improvement stores. I usually get them at Home depot, I know they have all the pieces you need for corners and everything. We put in some lines to put in a new outlet by one of our salt water aquariums in the basement and used them to run up one wall from box, up the wall around a door and down to behind the aquarium. We have used them to hide all the wires from TV's, sound systems, etc. with all our TV's.
We had run them behind the interior walls.
