I have black tiny ants all over my cat's litter box and their food.
Time for a pest control company. One treatment should do it.
Put bacon soda around the bag in a circle ants won't cross the line
My friend swears by vinegar. Mix vinegar and water in a sprayer to clean the floor around the pet bowl.
you can put a slightly larger diameter bowl or pan under the food bowl. Fill that larger pan slightly with water. Ants wont be able to get to interior food bowl.
Ants leave a scent trail. I would put some indoor ant killer traps out and wipe areas down with vinegar. Outside I would spread a ant killer along the perimeter of the house. Another product you can use if you have children or pets is diatomaceous earth. It is crushed shells and coral in a powder form. This makes cuts on the exoskeleton leaving them to dehydrate and die. It will kill any insects with a exoskeleton.

use a square of carpet and coat it with borax. It will settle down in. Place the food bowl and water dish on the carpet. Borax will kill/repell ants and other creepy crawlies. Borax will not harm pets.
Find their trail. Get to the nest. Use a borax based ant killer gel on a spot of the trail they take back to the nest and kills the colony.
I place my pet's food dish in a tray of water, ants can't swim
OH!! I never thought of that. Thank you, Jasteinberg3!!
I agree. Clean the floor, counters, anywhere the ants have been. Then have an exterminator come out. With pet safe powders or spray. Btw, ants are a normal part of the diets of pets outside. Unless they bite the pets' mouths, they should be okay. Best wishes😇
Best ant killer is a product called Dethlac. Kills ants and they don't reappear again.
Draw a circle with chalk a little larger than the feed bowl, it will keep the ants away.
Thank you for all your great ideas. They have given me more Ideas for methods for other places around the house & yard. You guys are the best. :-)
Use white vinegar. I used it for ticks and ants. It worked great.
Good Luck.
Sorry kid

We are in Idaho escaping the heat of Sin City. My house sitter has said it has been too darned hot though! Stay cool my friend.
Hi Patty, it's so frustrating when that happens. We had the same problem and we place of dog's food bowl on a shallow plate that's filled with water. The ants can's get across the water and drown. You do need to replace the water every day though.

Try puting the food dish in a larger container with water in it.
Yes, put a bowl of catfood in a tray of water.
