I can't get myself to throw these out because I think there must be a cool project for them.
I throw them in my recycling bin weekly.
You can cut them and cover with contact paper for napkin rings, designs to put in picture frames (see photos) or save for teachers. Also, you can sell them on ebay to teachers that will buy them by the dozens, if you have to room to save them 40 or 50 at a time to sell.

You can use them for wreaths, ornaments and other great ideas. Schools are usually using them for different projects. Recycle them. Pinterest has 100s of ideas for using them

You can use them in crafting. But you can also use them for gardening. Just cut them in half. Tape one end and then fill with dirt. Place a seed in each one. Put them in a sunny window. In the spring, you will be able to transplant them in to your gardens and beds. Seeds are way cheaper than purchasing flowers and vegetables.
Have a garden? Use them as starter pots. Fill with potting mix, add seeds, when the seeds sprout and produce their first true leaves, just plant the whole tube. No transplant shock and added protection and food for the plant.
