I think that is what our hearth is made of. You could probably sell them to an architectural salvage firm.
How about tiling an outdoor table? There are plenty of inspiration photos here: https://www.pinterest.com/bestfiveof/tile-top-patio-table/?lp=true
you could cover a patio table with them, make a plate to set hot pans on your counter (maybe use a wooden base under the tiles?) or break them to make a mosaic for either of those ideas. Hope you have fun!
Lay them inside the cabinet under your kitchen sink. Cover bottom. Install up one level on the perimeter walls (do not go higher in case you have a plumbing issue in the future and the pipes in the wall need to be accesses). Install with mastic and grout as you would with floor installation. Advantages: Small undetected leaks will not rot the bottom of cabinet; easy to sanitize; flooring in adjacent rooms (carpet or hardwood) on the other side of wall less likely to be damaged if a pipe breaks/leaks. If you have enough tile you could use under sinks in bathrooms.
Do you have children in school? You could do original Valentine tiles for the whole elementary class. If the children are older, let your kids do them. Girls will have many friends, boys a few or none they want to give Valentines to. No kids? How about doing Thanksgiving, Christmas, Ground Hog's Day etc greeting tiles for a small nursing or rehab home? Mix glue with water for a primer. Let that dry. Then paint with any paint. Let that dry. Gently write the message with permanent marker. Let all that cure a day or at least a couple of hours. Use the glue glaze or a spray sealer and let it cure at least overnight, then the tiles are finished with the painting. Flip them over and use a hot glue gun and glue to fasten a 6" loop of ribbon to make a hanger. No wrapping necessary!
You could attach a magnet on back and decorate the fronts with a small painting or hand printed message as fridge magnets.
50? Agree with giving many for kids' projects. Keep a few for hot plates--just stick some felt circles underneath so they won't scratch. You have about 200 s.f. of tiles, you could make a patio with some gravel in between (or thyme, etc.) Work is fun!
You could cover the top of a small table for your patio, use them to make a frame around a mirror, trim a picture frame, break them into pieces and mosaic flowerpots, etc
Make a giant sidewalk scrabble game by putting letters on them. They can be used for wall art too.
