Thought I read/saw in your column "that Borax rids spiders & insects around your house". I did read it but now I can't find where it was. Please reply.
you can't
Peppermint oil on cotton balls. Hide them all over the house
Peppermint oil or vinegar water in a spray bottle sprayed around your house inside and out, around windows and doors will keep them out and your home spider free.
The shop I work in is full of cotton balls soaked in peppermint oil- and spiders, lots of spiders. I'll have to try the vinagar. If you have recluses, use glue traps around the edges of the room, eliminate cardboard boxes and stuff on the floor. Removing webs makes your home less hospitable and doesn't give eggs time to hatch.
Spiders catch and eat flies and other bugs. As Engraver said, it's almost impossible to keep them out. I just scoop them up in a paper cup and toss them out the door.
Peppermint oil
Seriously, spiders are your friends! To help them move on (from your home), use peppermint oil on cotton balls, especially in corners. Keep plants at a minimum around the doors into your home and garage. If you find a spider, capture it gently in a cup/jar and release it outside from your home. Remove the webs as you find them.
Get some peppermint oil add water to it and spray all around baseboards or where you think they might be coming in at...jkd
Actually you don't want to, you could be overrun with insect pests. Just keep vacuuming them & the webs up & do something about the insect pests the spiders are moved in to dine on. Sprinkling Diatomacious Earth is cheep & non toxic to any thing not an insect with a hard outer shell. Just follow the directions on the container. Just Google it to learn more.
