How do you get rid of sink/drain flies?
I would like to know how to get rid those pesty little sink/drain flies. I've tried baking soda and vinegar, drain cleaners and put plastic over the drains.
They may be fungus gnats and not fruit flies if you have plants inside. If that is the case you must re-pot them in fresh sailor the gnats will keep coming back
Those little buggers are driving us crazy! We finally got us a fly strip to put by the kitchen sink. It has really helped. Good luck!!
Take a small cup and fill it 3/4 with apple cider vinegar and cover the top of cup with plastic wrap. Poke a few pin size holes in the plastic and leave on the counter. Flies will enter but can't get out.
I use a small bottle(spice jar piece of fruit in bottom Saran wrap on top with rubber band to hold snug poke 4-5 holes in top.Put near fruit or back of sink, when bottle has a few flies pop in Microwave for about 12 seconds!reuse 'til problem solved, usually when Winter sets in,we live in Northern Ontario!
use a toothpick
Leave a little red wine in the bottom of the bottle and the fruit flys will go in, get drunk and drown.
if the garbage disposal and pipe down to it stay dirty they can be hatching there. You'd be amazed at the gunk under the rubber gasket of the garbage disposal.
Put a little bit of apple cider vinegar in a mason jar and cover with a baggie with a small hole and then push it down into the jar and it will attract the fruit flies they enter th e hole and can't get back out
use a jar(s) containing some syrup to catch them. They get feet stuck in it and die. You can put it on inside window ledge and outside too
Hi there, you can make a fruit fly trap by cutting a plastic bottle about 2/3 of the way up. Remove the screw top lid. Squirt a little dish soap in the bottom, add 2 Tbsp apple cider vinegar, 1 Tbsp sugar, and 1/2 cup warm water (dissolve the sugar). Place the top inverted into the bottom. They will fly into the neck to get at the solution but won't be able to escape.
