Consider painting a light color? Any way to add lighting? Leave doors open from adjoining rooms to add light?
Can you repaint it a lighter color? A cream color or type of white? Also, decorate with light colored items, hang mirrors, which give reflect light and make areas look more spacious. Here is another idea from a fellow hometalker:

My Long Dark Hallway Needed Some Lights.
One of our Hometalk members made this faux hallway light at the end of her hallway. I saved it just because it is such a great idea. Using lighter color paint on walls and doors will help, but to me, this was the crowning glory of the dark hallway. It makes me wish I had a dark hallway so that I could do this myself!

Paint it a lighter color, use bright color pictures or a mirror
Do you have a plug in hallway? You can hang white or clear Christmas lights up at top of wall & use timer to turn on & off or rope light. Good luck.
white walls or at least bright colors
I too would paint the hallway a light neutral color and hang mirrors for reflection.
Great Lesa! I'm so glad. As soon as I saw your question, that Hometalker's project came to mind!
One of the most interesting thing I saw recently that was a DIY project was to take an old window, frost the glass and put a string of small lights behind it. Install it at the end of the hall. If I didn't have a door at he end of my hall, that's what I'd do. Or you could hang the window close to the ceiling like a sky light.
