Store it in a glass with water, and a plastic cover over it, leave it out. EJL.

  • Bring the plant in or pluck all the leaves and dry them - between paper towels or chesecloth and place in an herb jar for use throughout the winter.

You can dry the basil out and use it as a dried herb, or cut the stalks and put them in a glass of water in a sunny window. They should start producing roots. Then you can pot them back up. Put them in a sunny window, and enjoy!

I grow this every year, mine reach five feet. I always collect the seed heads once they turn brown, I save old pill bottles to store them in and label each one for the type it is and replant the next year extremely EASY to grown from seed, BUT you can carefully dig it up and pot it and bring it inside. It is an Annual so it is not meant to last real long. I have had volunteers come up the next year due to seeds falling onto the ground. I find that Basil's are very lovely to look at and make beautiful fragrant house plants IF you have the proper lighting indoors.
