    Yes. I have a cactus garden and it is easy care because once established it doesn't require much water. I have cholla, barrel, bird of paradise, yucca, red yucca and have put big pots with other draught tolerant plants . Looks nice.

    Some are not cold hardy so check requirements if you get freezing. There are a couple of good books. Hardy Succulents by Kelaidis. With some planning you can have a tough, drought tolerant, and super fire resistant landscape. If you're in California, there are some amazing nurseries. Visited one somewhere between San Diego and Los Angelos that had my tongue on the floor.

    Yes you can. Give them enough room to grow - however slowly - Mix and match always looks nice. Odd numbers - 3, 5 plants together looks better than even numbers.
