what to do with a 24ft by 14ft concrete patio that is cracking in many spots. What's the best option with pavers and is this something for a DIY project?

That depends on your Age, Fitness and Abilities. The best way to tell if it is something you might consider doing yourself is to, call in a few Professionals, Tell them what you would like - After discussing your requirements with them, ask for a written Quotation to do the job. Then when the Quote comes in, you will be able to decide if it's a job for you or one you would prefer to have done for you........

You can fill in the cracks with a cement patch. I had a friend who painted bricks on the patio rather than replace it or cover it with pavers. She created a stencil and had everyone in the neighborhood, it seemed, help with the painting. A new patio was going to cost her thousands and she didn't have the wherewithal to do pavers on top of the cement. So she created the illusion of pavers and was quite happy with it for years.
