How to kill ants inside large plant pots?
I think i have a nest of ants in my pot plants. Every time I water them the ants are everywhere. How can I get rid of them without killing my plants.
I just lift the plant from the old pot, shake the loose dirt from the roots and repot it by placing it in new, fresh potting soil, then give it a big drink of water.
If it's Real large, tip it to its side, you may have to run a knife or something around the sides to work it loose. Grab the base and gentle pull. If you have no luck you may have to break the old pot to get it out. Sorry. After you get it out check the roots for root rot, if you see that cut those roots off. If it's root bound you will need to loosen them up. I have had to make small cuts in badly root bound plants and "tickle " the roots loose, before replanting in a larger pot with new good soil. GOOD LUCK...Gigi
