How about a large umbrella? End of the season so you may be able to find a deal.
If the deck is large enough, set up a canvas roofed shelter like you could st up on the lawn. This time of year they are probably on sale.
You don't say how large the deck is. Do you want shade when you're sitting on the deck? ( table umbrella, pergola style framing with shading material, or plant climbing vines in planters) or are you trying to keep a room cooler? (bamboo roller shades that can be pulled up or down when needed, blackout curtains on inside or even privacy reflective film on sliding glass windows). 🙂
