Mamy times people add mirrors to a room to make it feel larger. You can maintain a bit of this feeling but soften the harshness of the mirrored wall by hanging sheets the whole way across the wall. Hang the rods from the ceiling since you will not be able to attach through the mirror. For an extra touch you could add a string of lights behind the curtain to provide a warm glow!
Dye cotton drop cloths and hang them like curtains. They can be as full or flat as you like.
Curtains. I would suspend from ceiling with pvc pipe. And make them out of inexpensive dropcloths out of the hardware store. Plus you can paint / embellish to go with your decor.
Find a funky wallpaper and use it to create a stripe effect on the mirror by spacing it so you see some mirror and then a strip o wallpaper. This will cut the expanse down until you can permanently replace it.
I'd do wallpaper, or use the window coverings with leaves and let a bit of the mirror stay.
You can use the window cling material to add some detail with a pattern, the mirror will still show through much of it, but will change the look and may make it more appealing. You can remove it and replace it whenever you want to change it up with a different look.
Contact paper on every other panel or so. One with a stone look might be good. Or stencil, and frosted spray paint. You could do a beautiful mural that way. I know you didn't want those options but that's all I got. Good luck Rrubyslippers.
Hang some curtains over it even sheers will reduce the glare .. and soften the view .. cheap curtains .. look at bed sheets, garage sale or even new, as cheap yardage for such projects. Some of those scotch sticky wall hangers could be used to hang an assortment of pictures on the wall too. Be sure to allow them to 'set' even a batch of posters will look good if you have them.
We bought a condo with a wall of mirrors too. At first it reminded me of a ballet studio and I hated it. We just worked around it with art and furniture and now I'm digging it. Just be aware of what it reflects. I'll try to include a picture.
Thanks. 😊
Did you even consider taking it down?
Great ideas. Not artsy but I can do the basic Stuff
Thank you do much!
My favorite current option.....
...I really don't like it. Would rather give it away then destroy but i need the space meanwhile I will mull these great ideas over!
Good plan!
