How do you make old windows waterproof for shower?

We replaced our windows. I want to use four big ones as a partial wall in a shower. I was told to paint them with a oil base primer and then a water base paint to make them last. Any encouragement or negativity for this project? All comments appreciated.

. You can't use an oil based primer and then paint over it with latex paint. Use all oil based primer and then oil based paint over that.
Big lulu is correct, one last thing, you need to silicone each pane to make sure water does not get behind the glass and rot the wood. Good luck.
The mixture of primer and paint was suggested to me from a paint store?
Their explanation was that oil base primer soaked in to the wood and water base paint made it waterproof??? Thanks for the silicone tip!
