I had seen a post on Facebook that someone had "stained" their generic pendant lights. I knew that could give my boring dining light some personality. Plus I had something else that needed some fun.
Wash the glass shades. Dry completely. Plaint the inside and outside with at least 1 coat of color. I could not decide on a single color so I used 6 diffent colors. I had another project that needed 7 colors. The over lapping and small drips add character so dont try to smooth out all all the brush marks. Let dry and reinstall.
I like things that do double duty. I have a glass block shower wall with no privacy and lets in too much heat and light.
Paint the blocks with the same mixture. You may wish to cover the wall and ground as the color mixture is a bit runny. I did about 3 coats. On clear glass the color is a lot lighter than the white glass shades. That is okay. I have privacy and the bathroom temperature is cooler. Plus this 80's girl loves Tetris. Can't help but smile when I go into my bathroom. I did not paint the inside. Did not see a reason to.
If you use disposable cups with lids, you can keep bugs and pets out of your "stain". It also gave me a bit of extra time to do 2 projects without it drying out on me. Cleanup was a breeze too.
