Do you have room for it somewhere else to be able help you re-purpose
put doors on and make into a amoire for clothes or a place to hide stuff. I store grandkids toys in mine and will turn into a craft storage later.
I get it, I have my parents stuff too. First find a way to relocate the grandkids stuff, get them bins or baskets. Now what other things do you have that need a new display / home? Walk around the house, think where it would look good and be useful. Craft cabinet? At supplies? Or use it for seasonal decor?
You will be surprised if you paint it with chalkpaint in a nice colour you like.
When you use chalkpaint you don't need to sand it or anything. Just clean it and start to paint. You can look for tutorial videos on you tube.
Looks like it would great for displaying collectible items.
I'm not really a chalk paint kinda girl, just did an antique dresser into a TV stand, vanished the top and painted the rest blue. I'm an okie. Lol
All my collectables are in my China hutch and on shelves. I get anymore raccoons or dragons, my hubby would kill me. Lol
Do you have a pet? I have seen pet beds put in old open TV cabinets...the pets feel safe and you have the top to decorate.
Nope, live in a small trailer. So either I do it in the living room or when it's warm, the front porch becomes my work shop.
If you don't have much space and you have a lot of crafting stuff, this could become your ''office''!!! Simply add shelves and a door that will become your working table when open.
Get the grands a toy box and use the open (t.v.) space for a display of a large something that you like. It could be a large basket with fake flowers in it, a large piece of decorative china, or if you still wanted it to be kid friendly, divide the space into fours and treat the four spaces as if they were a doll house, maybe 2 bedrooms on the top sections and living room and kitchen on the bottom sections. Don't paint this piece!
Wow wish I had this! I would put it in my kitchen add some hooks hang pots & pans or utensils
Get rid of the stuff inside of it
How about incorporating a mini shower rod and hanging vertical beads or even a pretty printed curtain out of yours or your moms styled pattern/colors if you use as storage?
Add one or two shelves with baskets or bins for toys and use tension rod to hang curtains in style and color you like & tie back when grandkids are visiting & then close when they aren't there. Then when they out grow the toys you can turn it into craft center with the baskets or bins. Keep bottom for yourself to put some of your craft stuff in that you don't want sitting out. Good luck.
